Project Citizen
"We the People: Project Citizen is a curricular program for middle, secondary, and post-secondary students, youth organizations, and adult groups that promotes competent and responsible participation in local and state government. The program helps participants learn how to monitor and influence public policy. DELREC provides teacher training on how to implement Project Citizen for schools and organizations throughout Delaware. Project Citizen is now part of Delaware’s Recommended Curriculum for Grades 7 and 9. lesson plans for those two levels are available at the Delaware Department of Education’s web site at www.doe.k12.de.us. Look for the "Teachers and Administrators" Tab at the bottom of the DOE Home Page. Look under "Standards for the Delaware Content Standards and Recommended Curriculum" for Social Studies and Civics.

Schools around the State are invited to participate in a Project Citizen Showcase each Spring. Students display their portfolios and discuss their projects with educations and civic leaders. The winning middle school portfolio is entered into the National Project Citizen Showcase at the Center for Civic Educations.
